How LearnStorm Works

How is LearnStorm different from MATHletes?

The MATHletes Challenge started two years ago in Ireland with the aim of increasing Irish students’ competence and confidence in mathematics. Last year, 13,000 primary and secondary students took part in the challenge and spent over 3 million minutes learning maths on Khan Academy. The success of MATHletes inspired Khan Academy to take the challenge to the world.

In 2016, the MATHletes Challenge will have a new name: LearnStorm Ireland. This change makes Ireland a co-founding country, along with the USA, of a new global learning movement. Join more than 300 schools competing for their county, province, and for Ireland on Khan Academy now.

Team up with other teachers in your school to tackle LearnStorm together. Connecting, collaborating, and getting creative with your Teacher Squad will help make LearnStorm even more fun & meaningful for your students!

Get your Teacher Squad started! It’s helpful to have a group of teachers who can do the following:

  • Receive and hand out swag & prizes (e.g. Be a reliable point of contact for Khan Academy to send school & individual swag & prizes to)
  • Coordinate fun school celebrations (e.g. Plan rallies to celebrate Mastery & Hustle Cup winners, post fun progress trackers in school hallways etc.)
  • Provide signup support (e.g. Easily explain and help others through the Khan Academy and LearnStorm signup & setup process)

If you’re interested in learning more about Teacher Squads or other ways to get more involved with LearnStorm, let us know here.
